Miaoli – Olive Tree Minsu 南庄民宿-橄欖樹

Olive tree was our Day 1 Miaoli minsu stay.  If you like to know my Nov 2012 itinerary, click here.
Olive tree 橄欖樹 is a minsu in Nanzhuang南庄民宿.  This minsu was quite remote, about an hour drive from city area.  That was the main purpose –  I wanted to be away from city and enjoy fresh air and mountain scenary.  My first impression was a warm and lovely wooden house, just like in a fairy tale.  There was also a spacious garden outside the wooden house.   Some people said that it was like you were in a fairy tale sweet house – what do you think ?

Beside the wooden house was the Purple house (dining area), linked by a wooden bridge.  Our rooms was on the 2nd floor of the wooden house.  Once you entered the wooden house, there was a reception cum dining area.  Behind the reception, there was a staircase that lead to the rooms that we were staying.  The boss also had built a new white building behind the wooden house.  However, the new rooms was fully booked.  The new rooms were more spacious and some with balcony.  If you like this article, please click on the ‘Like’ button above.

Reception area

Our two rooms.

We had a 4 person bedroom – 2 double bed, also got a small table.  See the red curtain – actually is a small dressing area, leading to the washroom.  The other room is a 2 person bedroom.

Notice the below picture -a small wooden house, actually it is the room key chain!

The minsu also has a small cafe.  The boss gave us the menu so that we can pre-order our dinner and breakfast.  Breakfast is inclusive in room rate but not dinner.

I would say that the boss really make an effort to beautify every little corner. Every corner has a surprise !  There were many cute and lovely art crafts – all masterpiece of the young boss !

Below is our dinner set (comes with teapot or drink) and breakfast set – thick toast (can choose different favour – garlic, choco, kaya), hard boiled egg, salad, sweet potato and coffee/tea.

The Purple house was on the 2nd floor.  There was a bridge that linked from the main wooden house.  Don’t miss the window display beneath the purple house !

I like the brick type wall and the display in the cabinet.

Below picture (right 3 pixs) are display from the cabinet.

  1. Hi! I’m planning a 5d4n trip to probably Taichung in Feb. I haven’t got a clue what to do or where to go other than visit Fengjia Night Mkt and the mushroom farm after reading your blog 🙂 I’m now keen on this Olive Tree Minsu too! There’ll only be 2 of us, could you tell me more about how we could get there and how to make bookings etc? Also are there things to see/do around there? Thank you SFLOW00!
