Yilan has plenty of minsu and you will definitely be spoilt for choices. We are great fans of Taiwan Minsu and we tend to favour them over hotels. For our 2nd night in Yilan, we are going to experience another minsu in Dongshan area – Kimptonbnb 宜蘭金普敦鄉村悠活民宿.
As this is a self-drive trip, we are guided by GPS to this house. From the exterior, it looks like a normal house with unit number. No minsu name is indicated. Really low profile !
Initially, we think that we can enter from the front door. No no…
We are led by the lady boss to the back of the house via a stone path.
Towards the end of the stone path, a beautiful green landscape appears in front of you. It’s amazing – the front and the back view are completely different ! (forget to take a pix of the front view of house)
Beautiful garden with pond.
Here’s a pix – back view of the house. The guests and minus’s family have separate entrances which provide more privacy for guests.
An open veranda sitting area where you can sit and relax with a glass of wine ! The environment is tranquil, relaxing and beautiful with lots of greenery view !
The guests can enter via this door below.
After a warm welcome by the lady boss, we were presented with the 2-tier afternoon tea in this cosy dining area.
Very nice milk pudding ! (how I wish I can have one right now !)
Lots of extras in the dining area – all are free for guests ! Wow, so many types of drinks in fridge, packet and can drinks and even can beer! Choice of teas and coffee, biscuits, crackers, maggie mee are all available. Doesn’t you feel you’re at home ?
Do you remember the Yellow Floating Duck Sculpture ? This artist, Florentijin Hofman also stayed in Kimptonbnb before. Btw, the hosts are both English speaking.
The minsu has 5 rooms. Lucky to take a peep as the rooms were not occupied yet!
The ground floor has a room, in fact, the largest room. Oh yes, remember we didn’t enter from the front door of the house – that’s because, it’s the entrance for this ‘Japanese Executive Suite’.
It’s a large family suite with two queen beds. Isn’t this room super spacious with separate living room and bedroom ?
The rest of the rooms are on 2nd and 3rd storey.
All the rooms are featured with modern design and comfortable bedding, as well as private ensuite bathroom with luxury bathroom amenities. In fact, all rooms have bathtubs for guests to relax !
This is the Paris in Spring suite with a King-size bed, with outside balcony looking onto the garden and the green paddy fields.
This is the English Rose suite with 2 King-size beds.
Our room – Manhattan suite is on the 3rd floor and indeed it’s up to our expectation ! Wow – spacious and eye soothing colour combined with high ceiling makes the room very inviting !
A cosy sitting area with big windows and the view is fantastic !
Sparkling clean bathroom with shower and bathtub. The toiletries are of good quality and they even provide the lavender bath oil too !
The last room – Melbourne suite features a large room with King-size bed and a sitting area with great views.
One of the benefits of staying in a minsu is that we can get heaps of information from them. We asked the lady boss for Japanese dinner recommendation. She immediately recommended a nearby restaurant and helped us to reserve a table.
The restaurant is a short drive away and offers set menu as well as ala carte items. Also a short walking distance to Luodong night market too. You can do a stroll after the heavy dinner !
A great sumptuous dinner as you can see from the pictures ! We were super full !
This is the set meal. (I think is 600twn)
This is the Charashi don.
A delicious breakfast awaited for us in the next morning. The cooked breakfast set was very filling, coupled with toast bread and jams, and also fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffee and fruit juice. Super big portion ! I love the fresh juice and had a second helping too! The heavy breakfast actually lasted us till 2-3pm !
We really feasted a lot in Yilan !!! lol !
Overall, it’s a delightful accommodation offered with serenity and relax ambience. Not forgetting the superb hospitality from our warm hosts and the magnificent cooked breakfast ! We will recommend this minsu to anyone who wants a home from home feel while travelling.
It’s also quite difficult to find English speaking hosts in Taiwan, so if you are looking for one, don’t hesitate to contact Kimptonbnb via Facebook ! Do tell them you see my recommendation !
