Taiwan Travel Itinerary March 2014 with driver trip

This March 2014, my whole family went to Taiwan again.  Thanks to Scoots again as we managed to snatch some super cheap air tickets.

This time, our Taiwan trip covered Taoyuan lalashan, two nights in Tainan, Miaoli, Yilan and lastly Taipei.

As we had six adults, I arranged for Mr Zhu (Taiwan driver) to drive us for five days.  We had engaged him in our previous Nov 12 Taiwan trip.

The itinerary as below (click on the highlighted links):

Day 1 – Taoyuan airport – Lalashan Conjugallove (拉山恩愛農場 賞櫻) – Tainan Jengshing Street – Taichengfruit shop (泰成水果店) – Shennong street – Flower night market

Accomodation: Jia Hsin hotel (家新大飯店) which is next to Tainan Flower night market.  Pretty convenient hotel especially if you want to visit the Flower night market.

Our trip started when we landed at Taoyuan airport 6am.  We headed straight to Lala shan 拉拉山恩愛農場 for the cherry blossom.

The lalashan cherry blossom started around end feb or early March.  If you are planning to visit Taiwan during this period, you can arrange to go there.  It’s a pity that there was no sun that morning !

Lalashan

Lovely dogs.

After that, we had a long drive before we reached Tainan.  Our first stop was Zhengxing street – super crowded on weekends.  These are the few shops we were targeting : Taicheng fruit shop, Japanese ice-cream shop, Xiaoman restaurant.

Day1-TN-fruitstall

Day1-TN-fruit2

You need to take a queue number for this ice-cream shop.

Day 2 – Anping old street (台南安平老街) – Luermen Queen of Heaven Temple (鹿耳門聖母廟) – Lunch at Teapot chicken – Guanziling hotspring (關仔嵿溫泉) – JingZaiJiao salt field (井仔腳鹽田) – Tainan Night market
Accomodation: Taipung Suites (臺邦商旅)

Day2-Teapot Day2-teapot-lunch Day2-saltfield

Taipung Suites’ room was spacious and comfy.  My room came with a bathtub too !

Day2-taipungsuites1 Day2-taipungsuites Day2-taipungsuites3

Day 3 – Breakfast at SanJi (山記魚仔店) – Lukang Glass temple (玻璃廟) – Lukang Old street (鹿港老街) – 桂花巷藝術村 – Changhwa Buddha(彰化大佛) –  Sector Garage (彰化扇形車庫)
Accomodation: Miaoli Yundong Minsu 雲洞山莊

Lukang Temple – the temple built of glass.  It would be even more beautiful with lights at night.

Day2-Lukang-temple

Day 2-Lukang-temple1

Sector Garage – a must visit for train lovers !

day3-Sector

Day3-lukang

This was our beautiful Miaoli accommodation up in the mountain – Yundong, surrounded by sea clouds.

Day 4 – Shenxing train station (勝興車站) – Strawberry picking – Lunch at 棗莊古藝庭園膳坊 – Tea break at Yilan – Yilan Jimi 宜蘭山寨村 – Yilan Monster Village (宜蘭車站幾米廣場) – Luotong Night market

Miaoli-rest Day4-strawberry

Accomodation: Yilan Jane Castle Minsu (Click on the link for review)

Day 5 – Smoking stone hotspring at Jiaoxi – Jiaoxi East red teppankayi lunch – DIY at Artemis Garden – Keelung night market – Taipei  (Happened to be a rainy day, so our activities were mostly indoor.  Even the Keelung night market’s stalls were not fully opened – so disappointing !)

Day 6 to 9 – Free & Easy in Taipei  (can’t do much on Day 9 as we need to leave by 130pm to airport.  The timing for return flight by Scoots is real bad.)
– Buffet Lunch at Humble house
– Panda Exhibition
– Cherry blossom viewing at Tianyuangong.

Hi Queenie…. Your blog is so useful for my planning to Taiwan….. I have been there also stayed at minsu… I really enjoyed the stay….
I am a bit ambitious, trying to do a round island trip for 10 days…..
Can I ask how much did you pay for the driver? Does it include his stay? Or is the rate for per day? Thanks and really appreciate your effort.

  6. It’s really nice seeing all the beautiful places of Taiwan. We also like a free n easy no rush tour of Taiwan next year March. Is the chauffeur English speaking? How do we contact him if we have decided our trip dates? Is it via email or WhatsApp? It seems you arrange your own itinerary, that’s very clever of you but we don’t know how to do that, can we ask him to recommend?
We love to visit Taiwan with our kids, can you recommend any places of interest?
Thank you so much for sharing. .
Please reply via email to mymelody0501@yahoo.com

    Looking forward to your reply
