November 2008 Taiwan Itinerary

Highlights of Cingjing & Hualien Itinerary

Highlights of Cingjing & Hualien Itinerary

I started my first free & easy trip to Taiwan in 2008.  I was interested to visit Cingjing as some people called the place as the ‘Little Swiss’.  But there wasn’t much discussions in the Tripadvisor about Cingjing minus (unlike now, Cingjing travel details can be found more readily).   I only knew that I could take the E-go bus.  Luckily I managed to search from the Yahoo Taiwan and found some nice Cingjing minsu.

Besides going to Cingjing, I also wanted to visit Hualien – to view the beautiful sunrise at Chi Hsing Tan.  For me, I like to explore places with nice scenary and good food.

Below is my itinerary.  Transportation is mainly via public transport (bus/train) and one day Taroko Gorge tour with the Hualien minus.

Day 1 – Stayed at Taipei Main Station Keyman Hotel.  Reached Taipei in the evening.

Day 2 – Taipei – Cingjing

Boarded the E-go bus from Taipei Main Station (7am departure) to Cingjing.  Reached Cingjing about 1130am.  Stayed at Starry Minsu which was located at the highest point of Cingjing.  Went to Green Green grassland.

Day 3 – F&E at Cingjing – Morning Hehuansan tour (by minsu)

Checked into Energy Home Vacation Resort in the afternoon.  (nearer to 7-11, Starbucks area)

Read here for 3D2N Cingjing Itinerary & Transport.  My trip was more rest & relax and there wasn’t much night activities in Cingjing.

If you like to go night market or pubs at night, I suggest that you stay 1 night in Cingjing.

Day 4 – Cingjing back to Taipei

Free & Easy in morning – stroll down to the walk trail and took some pictures.

Depart Cingjing at 1pm  (via E-go bus).  Reached Taipei around 7-8pm.  Checked into Dandy Hotel (Zhongshan MRT)

Day 5 – F&E in Taipei.

Explore Jiufen old street via train.

Day 6 – Taipei to Hualien via train.

Stayed at Bayview minsu.  At night, we went to Hualien city.  Read here for Bayview Minsu review.

Day 7 – Hualien Taroko Gorge Tour by Heartstay Minsu

After our breakfast at Bayview Minsu, the minsu sent us to the train station.  We had arranged the Heartstay boss to pick us at train station for the taroko gorge.

Heartstay Minsu was located in the heart of hualien city and it was pretty convenient to walk around the city area.  The minsu was run by a nice old couple.  Room was not very big but price was reasonable (range from $1600twn onwards – 2 pax weekday)- check out the price on the website).

Day 8 – Hualien to Jiaoxi

Checked into Jiaoxi – Hefong Villa.  Luxury hotspring stay with afternoon tea, set dinner and buffet breakfast.

Day 9 – Jiaoxi to Taipei.

Day 10 – Taipei to Singapore
